Following a successful 2020 summer run on some of New Zealand’s biggest stages alongside the likes of Fat Freddy’s Drop, JessB, Big Zeeks and more. Auckland’s Rubi Du formerly known as SilvaMC has solidified herself as the Queen of New Zealand’s Roots / Dancehall scene and returns with her 2nd solo project “Most High”.
The EP showcases Rubi’s raw sultry voice and lyrical versatility across 4 tracks and begins with “Highest Of The High” a down tempo Roots number paying homage to her love for the herbal remedies. The project also features production by Parks (Ladi6) on the remix of “One Spirit” a track originally produced by Unitone Hifi, Tiopira McDowell of High Stakes Records and ends with a Mokotron Jungle remix of the previous released track “Guiding Star”.
Rubi’s Caribbean heritage and Rastafarian childhood helped shape her unique and unforgettable style, while staying true to her Kiwi roots. Boasting heavy basslines and melodic vocals, Rubi Du is setting a high standard for South Pacific reggae and dancehall to come.
This second release by New Zealand’s Bassline Queen is one not to be missed.
